Tour Itinerary
Departure at 0630 hrs from your hotel and drive to Tsavo East National Park for a mid-morning Safari Game drive. We will visit the Aruba Dam and the Kanderi Swamp and other game-rich areas of the park for opportunities to spot different wild animals and bird species. Tsavo East achieved notoriety in the 1900’s when ‘the Man-eaters of Tsavo’, a pair of rogue man-eating lions, preyed gruesomely on numerous construction workers of the Kenya-Uganda Railway. The incident was described in a book titled ‘The Man-Eaters of Tsavo’ and later turned into a Hollywood film in 1996. Today the park is more famous for its numerous prides of mane-less lions.
Lunch will be had at Voi Safari Lodge or Lion hill Lodge which enjoys breathtaking views of the endless plains of the park. There is a special ‘HIDE’ for the camera enthusiasts affording close-up and candid pictures of the wild animals which do not suspect any human presence. After a short rest w wille drive to Taita Hills Game Sanctuary for an afternoon game drive looking out for more wildlife and bird species then drive to Salt Lick Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Salt Lick Lodge is built on a high stilts above a water hole and animal feeding pastures where many animals come to feed and drink water giving the guest a chance to see them at close range. There is also a tunnel that brings you to close proximity to the water hole for an enhanced view of the animals quenching their thirst.
Wake up to an early morning game drive before breakfast. After breakfast enjoy a very short last minute game drive as you are exiting the sanctuary. Collect your lunch boxes and depart for Diani arriving in the evening.
